Minnesota Twins baseball returns today with the team on the road facing the St. Louis Cardinals on Opening Day.
Besides the actual "baseball," fans are also curious about where to watch the games after an offseason of uncertainty after bankruptcy and a split from FanDuel Sports (formerly Bally Sports).
First, you can hear the Twins and Cardinals - and every game all season for free - on 830 WCCO Radio, 102.9 FM and the Audacy App (in-market restrictions apply).
But if you want to watch the game, the team and MLB is giving you a few options.
It all emanates from Twins.TV. The team is offering up a channel finder for Twins.TV on their website. You put in your zip code, choose your television provider, and you get an answer on where - or if - the games are available. But in simplest terms, this is where you can find games via a few television providers in and around the Twin Cities:
DIRECTV satellite and streaming (Ch. 668-3 or Ch. 668), Xfinity/Comcast (Ch. 1261), Spectrum (Ch. 428 or 468, and Ch. 319 for Spectrum Wisconsin), Midco (Ch. 638), and on Fubo.
For other cable/satellite systems, or for other streaming systems like YouTube TV or Hulu, you are out of luck. At least for now.
The other option is a new one. You can buy a package to stream the games on your TV (or phone, tablet, etc.). The cost is either $99.99 for the entire season, or $19.99 a month. You can also choose the MLB.TV All Teams + Twins.TV Subscription for $199.99 (including all out-of-market MLB regular season games).
“Beginning with Opening Day, Twins fans can finally watch our games where, when and how they choose with Twins.TV Presented by Progressive,” said Twins Executive Chair Joe Pohlad. “This is a day we have been eagerly anticipating. We are truly ecstatic to deliver this unprecedented access to Twins Baseball for our fans throughout Twins Territory all season long. We are grateful to our partners at Major League Baseball and excited to work with them on this new era of broadcast excellence in 2025 and beyond.”
There are no local blackouts anymore, for either the streaming or television options, unless the game is carried nationally.
There are also "rumors" there is going to be a package of games available on a traditional, over-the-air station in the Twin Cities for the first time 2010. The Twins Senior Director of Broadcast, Andrew Halverson, tells the WCCO Morning News with Vineeta Sawkar there should be an announcement about that coming soon.
As for pregame and postgame like you got when games were on FanDuel, there is a 30-minute show before all home games. And all home and road games will have a 20-minute postgame.
Lopez Gets Third Opening Day Start
Pablo Lopez gets the start for the Twins making his third straight Opening Day start. Even after a rocky Spring Training, Lopez says he's ready to go.
"I do continue to feel more comfortable with like, where to start certain pitches, realizing that because I'm already moved, pitches that I'm trying to go to my arm's side, I don't have to like change my side too much because I'm already kind of in the black or things like that," Lopez says about his new approach in 2025.
Key players for the Twins have landed on the injured list to start the season including third baseman Royce Lewis and infielder Brooks Lee.
