The first episode of the Netflix series "Quarterback" debuts Wednesday night and features Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins.
Vikings executive vice president Jeff Anderson told the WCCO Morning News with Vineeta Sawkar that viewers will learn more about the kind of person Kirk Cousins is behind the scenes.
“He’s an incredible human being, he’s a great teammate, and he’s very durable, a tough player,” explains Anderson. “We kind of went into it, with those are the areas that we thought would be showcased just because of how genuine a person he is, and I think that came across really well in the series.”
Anderson says Cousins didn’t want the attention to be completely on him, but how he is part of a team.
“His only concern going into this was, ‘I don’t want this solely focused on me’, but understanding that this gives fans a sense of what it feels like to be a quarterback in the NFL,” says Anderson. “That was why he wanted to do it.”
Along with Cousins, the Quarterback series follows Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Marcus Mariota who signed this offseason with Philadelphia.
According to Netflix, the series will give fans an inside look at the players’ lives on the field and off. It documents intimate moments with their families, friends and trainers, following them from the field to their homes in a first-of-its kind, in-depth look at the job. It also reveals the many pressures involved in one of the most high-profile positions in all of sports.
