The NFL Free Agent period is now open with players and teams able to negotiate starting Monday at 11:00 a.m.

The Vikings have some big decisions to make, not least of which is quarterback now that Kirk Cousins has signed with Atlanta.

Another large free agent name for the Vikings is defensive end Danielle Hunter. He is an unrestricted free agent and is expected to command a lot of money, probably not in Minnesota.

In a move to help replace some of Hunter's production, the Vikings have made their first move of the offseason adding former Texans pass rusher Jonathan Greenard according to NFL insiders Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.

In four years Greenard has been a solid rusher for the Texans and coming off his best season with 12.5 sacks.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports the deal is worth $76 million over four years with $42 million of that guaranteed.

The signing of Greenard is a pretty clear signal from the Vikings that Hunter's days in Minnesota are over.

MORE DEFENSIVE HELP

Later Monday, the Vikings added another defensive piece in former Dolphins LB Andrew Van Ginkel. According to ESPN's Schefter, he agreed to terms on a 2-year deal with the Vikings for $20 million, including $14 million guaranteed. The deal was confirmed by his agents.

Then there is a homecoming of sorts. Former Gopher and Houston Texan Blake Cashman has signed with the Vikings according to NFL.com's Tom Pelissero. It's a three-year deal worth up to $25.5 million.

RE-SIGN TWO LINEMAN

The Vikings have re-signed two of their own offensive linemen. They've reached deals with David Quessenberry and Blake Brandel. That's according to ESPN's Kevin Siefert.
