The Vikings and Bills were a fascinating watch last week. But this week’s game in Buffalo was set to be must-watch thanks to a forecast that called for over three FEET of snow.
Not anymore.
The NFL has decided to move the Bills and Cleveland Browns out of Upstate New York and to – Detroit. The game will be at Ford Field Sunday at 12:00 p.m. CT. That means the Bills will play two straight games in Detroit because they play Thanksgiving against the Lions.
“Due to public safety concerns and out of an abundance of caution in light of the ongoing weather emergency in western New York, Sunday's Cleveland Browns-Buffalo Bills game will be moved to Ford Field in Detroit,” according to a statement by the NFL.
Ford Field is available because Detroit is in New York to play the Giants.
The snow amounts, thanks to the lake effect which draws moisture off of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario in the Upstate region, are expected to be historic. The actual rates of snow will really cause issues with up to three inches per hour limiting visibility to near zero.
This is not the first time the Bills have had a game relocated to Detroit due to a blizzard. In 2014 Buffalo’s game with the Jets was moved to Ford Field as well.
The Vikings? They’ll also be snug in a domed stadium hosting the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday in Minneapolis.
