For the first time in 12 years, Timberwolves legend and NBA Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett will return to Target Center later this month as part of the team's Fan Appreciation Night.
The April 12th match up against the New Orleans Pelicans is the the Wolves final regular season game.
According to a press release, the appearance kicks-off Garnett's long-awaited reunification with the team under new owners Alex Rodriguez and Marc Lore.
Garnett was drafted by the Timberwolves in 1995 and spent his first 14 years with the team before being traded to the Boston Celtics, where he won an NBA championship.
Garnett and former owner Glen Taylor had a very public falling out, which kept Garnet from participating in anything involving the team for the last number of years.
Garnett says that he "can't wait to come back home."
“Coming back for me is about what’s next," Garnett says. "I’ve spent time with Marc and Alex, and you can feel the difference. The energy is real. The vision is real. They’re building something that lasts, with a team on the court that’s hungry to win. I’m excited to be back in the building with the fans. Minnesota, let’s go!”
The reunion, according to the team, will evoke KG’s 1990’s era, featuring special in‑game moments and several of his former teammates joining the festivities.
Fans will be part of the action all night with exclusive in‑game experiences and giveaways, capped by a halftime performance from hip‑hop legend Montell Jordan, best known for the ultimate 1990’s anthem, “This Is How We Do It,” all designed to celebrate and thank Wolves fans for their passion and loyalty.
“Kevin Garnett has always represented the heart and intensity of this franchise,” said Timberwolves and Lynx Co‑Chairmen Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez. “The energy he generates is unmistakable, and welcoming him home to Target Center is a moment our fans have been eagerly anticipating.”
