As the NBA offseason continues, so does the Ben Simmons rumor mill.

The Philadelphia 76ers have reportedly been seeking a “James Harden-esque” asking price for Simmons, which has waned interest among potential suitors.

But at least one team remains interested: the Minnesota Timberwolves.

According to Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic, the Timberwolves have continued discussions on a potential deal for Simmons but the caveat in the talks is that Minnesota may need to find a third team to get involved in order to give the Sixer the win-now package they desire.

The Rockets traded Harden in a four-team deal that netted the organization four first-round picks, guard Dante Exum and All-Star Victor Oladipo.

The Timberwolves have all of their first-round picks over the next several years to include in a trade package but because the Sixers are not in rebuild mode, they would need to likely add veterans D’Angelo Russell and Malik Beasley to the deal.

Minnesota may be hesitant to deal Russell, who is close with star Karl-Anthony Towns while Beasley comes with his concerns as well, as he just completed a 78-day prison sentence for threatening a family with a rifle.

Krawczynski noted that newly acquired veteran Patrick Beverley, who has been traded twice in a 48-hour span this offseason, could also be a piece in a package for Simmons.
