The Timberwolves will be without one of their best second unit players for a significant amount of time due to a broken wrist.
Naz Reid suffered a broken wrist in Wednesday night's game against the Phoenix Suns. Reid drove the lane for a contested dunk and landed awkwardly on his wrist.
Reid, an undrafted free agent out of LSU, was having his best season as a professional before his injury. He led the Wolves' second unit and was averaging 11.5 points per game along with 4.9 rebounds. Henry Lake joined The Morning News with Vineeta Sawkar and says this one will hurt the team as they fight for a playoff spot.
"That's a tough one for the Timberwolves because he's played so well this season. And so when we start talking about in sports, the talent that you have in your organization and you start talking about the depth that absolutely is a really, really tough and difficult situation for the Timberwolves to lose a guy that's been playing so well"
Lake continued with Sawkar saying that the Wolves have had many guys step up this season and that trend will need to continue.
"When you lost KAT for basically the season, right, you needed some other people to step up. And guys like Naz Reid and Taurean Prince really did a good job of stepping up. Kyle Anderson has been, been solid for the Wolves. So now somebody else is just gonna have to step up, you know, with, with Naz, you know, unfortunately out for the rest of the regular season not being available. So we'll see, if somebody is up to the task of stepping up for him, but, definitely a big blow for the Wolves."
