Early Saturday morning, Vanessa Jensen, 19, was the latest homicide victim in Minneapolis.

The Chisago County native was just four days from her 20th birthday when she went with her cousins to Minneapolis so they could watch street racing, her family said. However, Jensen never returned home.

"She was shot three times, one in each arm and one in her chest," Rachel Jensen her mother said to Fox 9.

According to Minneapolis Police, the shooting occurred at the 2200 block of North Second Street. The Jensens said that shots were fired after two people got into an argument while drivers were doing burnouts.

The police have not yet made an arrest regarding Jensen’s shooting but they are investigating.

The family has set up a GoFundMe Page to help with funeral costs for their late daughter.

Her mother Rachel Jensen told the Star-Tribune she told her daughter to stay away from the race the ended up costing her life.

"I told her, 'stay away from those — it's just not a good idea,' " Rachel Jensen said after hundreds of her daughter's friends met at White Bear Lake High School to release balloons in her memory.

The mother added: "She was going somewhere and she had a lot of potential. That potential was ripped away because of one night of her being a normal teenager."
