A possible E. coli contamination is causing the recall of 300,000 pounds of raw beef that was shipped out to Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota and Nebraska, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection.

A routine sample taken from Greater Omaha Packing in Omaha, Neb., forced the recall when it tested positive for contamination. The beef in question was produced on July 13 and is stamped “EST. 960A” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

So far, the possibly-tainted meat is not believed to have caused any illnesses or adverse reactions.

Symptoms related to E. coli exposure include abdominal cramps, bloody diarrhea and dehydration and can emerge anywhere from two to eight days after exposure. Other effects of infection include decreased urine output, easy bruising and pallor stemming from a type of kidney failure caused by E. coli.
