The Twins are turning to the tech world to help further develop team performance and the fan experience.

The first-ever Twins Accelerator begins in November, part of a three-year program to connect with thirty tech start-ups.

Twins director of brand experience and innovation Chris Iles says many of the groups that have already contacted them are well-established businesses that need financial backing

"The Minnesota Twins would help be that calalyst to bring these start-ups into success and vice versa," Iles said. "They're going to help us infuse innovation into our organization at multiple levels."

The Twins would share profits, creating another revenue stream for the franchise.

"We're on a mission to reinvent what a baseball brand can be and do," Iles said, noting that profits go right back into the team.

"This is an investment strategy that is going to help us bolster the revenues for the Minnesota Twins."

This program is the first of its kind in Minnesota, and second sponsored by a major league baseball team, following the Los Angeles Dodgers.

"We feel like we're kind of on the cutting edge of helping this venture capital develop within the context of a sports franchise," said Iles.
