A man died Friday night after he was struck by a vehicle in Minneapolis.
Minneapolis police confirmed that the hit-and-run took place at 10:24 p.m. Friday in the 2500 block of West Broadway Avenue. Officers responded to the area on the report of a possible personal injury motor vehicle crash. When they arrived, they found a man, believed to be in his 20s, lying in the roadway.
A heavily damaged vehicle was found abandoned further down the road. Police attempted life saving measures on the victim, who was later pronounced dead at North Memorial Hospital.
Police said on Saturday that a preliminary investigation shows a silver Ford Taurus struck the victim as he entered the westbound lanes of West Broadway. The vehicle appeared to be traveling above the posted speed limit and the occupants inside the vehicle fled on foot after the crash.
The victim's name has not been released.
