Woodbury police are investigating an incident that left two children injured and ended with a woman being taken into custody early Wednesday morning.
Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Lake View Alcove at 12:46 a.m. on a report that a woman was chasing a young child. Other 911 calls reported screaming in the area.
When they arrived, police found a 6-year-old child with minor to moderate injuries and a second child between the ages of 4 and 6 unresponsive and lying in the street.
Authorities encountered a woman believed to be the suspect and took her into custody.
Both children were brought to the hospital. The second child remains in critical condition.
John Altman, the police commander of Woodbury Public Safety, says police are in the process of obtaining a search warrant to search a home for possible information.
