NFC Playoff Picture: Final Seeding for 2020 Postseason

The 2019 NFL season is in the books and the playoff picture is set.

There were a lot of different scenarios in play heading into Week 17 in the NFC, but the San Francisco 49ers take the top seed while the Green Bay Packers rallied back against the Detroit Lions to secure the No. 2 seed and first-round bye.

The Philadelphia Eagles managed to pull away in an ugly, year-long NFC East battle, while the Minnesota Vikings are back in the playoffs and are poised for a Minneapolis Miracle rematch with the New Orleans Saints (VERIFY)

Here is how the NFC playoff picture looks:

1 San Francisco 49ers (13-3), Next Up: Bye

After the 49ers suffered an unexpected Week 15 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, their hopes of winning the NFC West lied in a Week 17 matchup with the Seahawks in Seattle, who they lost to earlier this year at home. This time the Niners would not be denied, holding on for a 26-21 victory and clinching homefield advantage throughout the playoffs.

2 Green Bay Packers (13-3), Next Up: Bye

The Packers wrapped up the NFC North with a Monday Night Football win over the Vikings and secured a first-round bye with rallying from a 17-3 halftime deficit against the Lions for a 23-20 victory. They await their next opponent to visit them at Lambeau Field, where the Packers are 7-1 this season.

3 New Orleans Saints (13-3), Next Up: Minnesota Vikings

The Saints entered Week 17 unable to finish any lower than the third seed and that's where they will be for the 2020 NFL Playoffs despite winning 13 games. They will host the Minnesota Vikings in the Wild Card round — a rematch of the 2018 Minneapolis Miracle game — except this time it will take place at the Superdome.

4 Philadelphia Eagles (9-7), Next Up: TBD

The Eagles had their backs against the wall heading into Week 16, needing to win two games over the Cowboys and Giants to take the NFC East. It may not have been pretty, but Philadelphia delivered and will host a home game in the NFC Wild Card round.

5 Seattle Seahawks (11-5), Next Up: @Philadelphia Eagles

The Seahawks had a chance at the No. 1 seed in the NFC, instead they go limping into the playoffs, losing back-to-back home games against the Cardinals and Niners to drop to the fifth seed. They will head across country to take on the Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card round.

6 Minnesota Vikings (10-6), Next Up: @ Saints

The Vikings clinched a playoff berth with a Rams loss in Week 16, and entered Week 17 locked in as the No. 6 seed in the NFC after falling to the Packers a week earlier. Minnesota will head to New Orleans to face Drew Brees and the Saints, while they hope Dalvin Cook can get healthy back in time for the game.
