A 50-car train derailed Saturday in Albert Lea prompting police to urge the public to avoid the area.
According to the Albert Lea Police Department, the derailment happened shortly after 1:30 p.m. at 1355 Eastgate Rd. Police asked the public to stay away from Hawthorne St. and Ulsted Ave.
Train Derailed north of Hawthorne - AVOID Hawthorne St / Ulsted Ave (intersection blocked). Main St E onlookers should proceed to avoid traffic concerns.
