An 8-year old girl is being credited for helping to stop an armed robbery at a Maplewood, Minnesota liquor store. And perhaps even saved her father from injury.
38-year-old Conchobhar Morrell has been charged with first-degree attempted aggravated robbery at Big Discount Liquor on the 2500 block of White Bear Avenue North in Maplewood.
Police say the suspect came to the counter with a bottle of liquor and put it on the counter, along with a gun, and said to the clerk 'hand over everything'.
Authorities say the suspect said the clerk wasn't quick enough, and came behind the counter carrying the gun to empty the register himself.
The two got into a struggle over the gun, and the clerk's 8-year old daughter picked up a baseball bat, and started hitting the suspect.
The suspect left the store and was caught a short time later with a cut under his left eye. The clerk and his daughter weren't hurt.
There's surveillance video that shows Morrell wearing an Amazon uniform. According to WCCO-TV, an Amazon spokesperson says Morrell was a delivery associate for a third-party delivery service delivering packages and he will be "immediately offboarded."
Morrell appeared in Ramsey County District Court on Tuesday and remained jailed in lieu of $40,000 bail ahead of a hearing on Friday.
