A 17-year-old boy died Sunday after an early morning shooting in Minneapolis's McKinley neighborhood.
The Minneapolis Police Department reported that officers heard gunshots near the 3200 block of Aldrich Avenue North at about 2:25 a.m. Sunday. While police were searching the area, officials at North Memorial Hospital reported a teenager arrived via private vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound.
The teen died hours later.
Police found out the teen had been in an altercation with someone prior to the shooting. The suspect, or suspects, fled before officers arrived at the scene.
The shooting is the 80th homicide in Minneapolis. The city's homicide total one year ago was 48.
