WCCO's annual Cure Blood Cancer Radio Auction to benefit NMDP was another rousing success, thanks to the generosity of listeners and clients, including presenting sponsor Guttman Law - Wills, Trusts, and Probate.
All day, from the WCCO Morning News with Vineeta Sakwar, through Drivetime with Jason DeRusha, was filled with unique, "money can't buy" experiences that listeners could bid on. Those plus donations equals over $82,000.
All proceeds go toward saving more lives through bone marrow and blood stem cell transplants by supporting groundbreaking research, patient assistance grants and adding more potential donors to the NMDP Registry.
“On behalf of NMDP and the patients we serve, thank you to 830 WCCO and their listeners for the incredible generosity and continued commitment to help more patients access life-saving cell therapy,” said Amy Ronneberg, CEO, NMDP. “Just this month, NMDP celebrated facilitating our 150,000th transplant, a milestone made possible by the donors, supporters, researchers and partners who share our commitment to saving lives. Support from partners like 830 WCCO helps make these moments possible by advancing research, supporting patients and ensuring more people can access the life-saving cell therapy they need.”
NMDP bridges the gap between supporters and researchers while working to provide a cure for people diagnosed with blood cancers, including leukemia and lymphoma.
"The auction experiences created excitement. Our fans created impact," said Brad Lane, WCCO Brand Manager and Program Director. "In an era of infinite content and fractured attention, this event wasn't just a fundraiser. It was a reminder that radio still matters. It still creates community, still inspires generosity, and still has the power to turn listeners into neighbors united behind a common cause. We're honored to help bring people together in support of NMDP's mission."
With the help of donors from a diverse bone marrow registry, the nonprofit leverages its global network to assist patients throughout the transplant process, including the life of WCCO Radio's own Jordana Green.
830 WCCO’s “Cure Blood Cancer Radio Auction” is a part of Audacy’s commitment to making a meaningful difference at scale. Audacy uses its reach and personal connection with listeners to advance causes that promote strong mental health and build sound communities.
