The owner of a bistro in Albert Lea faces a $9,000 dollar fine for ignoring state coronavirus safety guidelines.

A Freeborn County judge issued the fine Thursday, citing past violations of the guidelines by the Interchange Bistro.

Lisa Hanson owns the Interchange, which is advertising a free party Friday starting at 9:00 p.m., calling it "Nail it to the Walz Reopen Minnesota Party."

She inserted the governor's surname for effect.

According to a Facebook post, the party reportedly is being paid for by the COVID-19 business relief check Hanson received.

In a statement, Minnesota attorney general Keith Ellison says it's sad to see an establishment with so little concern for people's health.
