Amazon's two facilities in the Twin Cities are working in hyperdrive as workers look to complete Black Friday orders and Cyber Monday purchases.
Jon Kampp, the Senior Regional Manager for Amazon at the Maple Grove facility, shared with News Talk 830 WCCO's Susie Jones that employees are working round the clock to get orders completed.
"Cyber Monday is a huge shopping day, obviously," Kampp said.
Kampp shared thousands of orders and packages are being filled, as Americans have turned to online shopping with the pandemic still raging on.
Even with Cyber Monday being as big as it is, Kamp shared that most of what they have been working on comes from shopping done on Black Friday.
Amazon has a significant footprint in the Twin Cities, even with only two facilities. Kampp shared that within a week, both Amazon service centers send out a combined one million packages.
Cyber Monday will bring in big dollar amounts for online businesses. Adobe Analytics predicts Americans will spend around $11.3 billion today, and Minnesotans will do their fair share to contribute to that number.
"Minnesota is a really, really good market," Kamp said. He added that there is a "tremendous amount of volume" that both facilities see daily, with the Egan site being "the number two shipper nationwide."
"We take a lot of pride in delivering for our customers in the Twin Cities," Kamp said.
When it comes to those at the Maple Grove Amazon facility, workers wrapped up their day on Sunday night at around 8 p.m. and returned for one of the biggest online shopping days of the year at 2 a.m.
Early start times for employees were to assist in making sure the influx in packages made their way out of the warehouse and to shoppers' doors as quickly as possible for the holidays.
