An open-air dinner table at least six city blocks long? You're going to need a lot of restaurants to serve the 2,000 people expected to attend.

It's Dinner du Nord, with 40 of the best restaurants serving everything from fine dining to food truck casual.

It takes place on Sept. 11 along Nicollet Mall starting at 5:30 p.m.

"They had a lot of questions about logistics," said Hospitality Minnesota's Angie Witcomb when it came to recruiting the participants. "They've got to move their kitchens outside, and still guarantee the quality of their food. Once we worked through that, they were eager to be here."

Witcomb says the restaurant lineup is impressive.

"We've got the OG's like Murray's and Fhima's and Rainbow Chinese," she says. "And the new OG's like OG Zaza pizza truck. So it's for every taste, for every budget. There's a seat at this community table highlighting the deliciousness that is Minneapolis."

Among the participating restaurants are Arturo's Pizza, Aurelia's Mexican Food, Bao Bao Buns, Barbette, Barrio, Borough, Brit's Pub, and the Butcher & the Boar.

And that's only the A's and B's.

A portion of the proceeds go to Help the House Foundation which serves people in the hospitality industry.

So, how does it all work? You can purchase tickets directly from the restaurant or food truck for their prix-fixe offering and you will be seated in that restaurant’s section. They offer a wide variety of cuisines designed to not only appeal to your taste buds, but also to a variety of budgets.

The pricing is all-inclusive with gratuities and taxes are included.

You can see the entire list of participating restaurants here.
