Eden Prairie police arrested an 18-year-old man Thursday in connection to last week's shooting at the Eden Prairie High School homecoming football game that injured two teens.

That arrest happened around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday at the intersection of Highway 55 and Penn Avenue in Minneapolis.

He's currently being held without bail at the Hennepin County jail on probable cause second-degree assault.

An 18 and 17-year-old were both injured in the shooting related to Somali gangs in the Twin Cities.

“The arrest today is an important step in this investigation,” said Police Chief Matt Sackett in a statement. “I’m incredibly proud of our officers and investigators who have worked nonstop alongside our law enforcement partners to identify those responsible and hold them accountable.”

Police add the investigation remains active and additional arrests and charges are possible.

The recent violence connected to Somali gangs in Minnesota is also catching the eye of President Donald Trump who took to Truth Social Thursday, saying in part that "the people of Minnesota must fight back," adding that the state's "been robbed and abandoned by your state government."

He also called on Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey to request Federal help.

In a statement, Governor Walz called the President's social media posts "deranged."

The Council on American-Islamic Relations Minnesota calling the President's latest remarks a "racist attack on Somali Americans".

Minnesota clergy members meanwhile will hold a press conference Friday morning in response to the president's comments.
