An overcrowded speaking engagement at a south Minneapolis Islamic center led to a medical emergency Thursday night when several in the crowd began fainting.
Hundreds were jammed inside the building around 7:00 p.m. in the 28 hundred block of 13th avenue south.
Emergency crews had trouble responding to the scene due to what they called a traffic deadlock and parked cars blocking access to the facility.
At least 10 people were taken to the hospital.
Others were transported in private vehicles.
Both adults and children were apparently stricken.
The event was cosponsored by Stronger Together Minnesota, who called off the proceedings after the incident.
The group took responsibility for the overcrowding issues in a statement posted to social media.
