A bit of a once in a lifetime situation for police in Big Lake after someone ran over a boa constrictor on the highway.
It was shocking for sure and very interesting to come across.
Big Lake Police Officer Caleb Swatsky says when his fellow officers texted him a photo of the snake.
He thought it was a joke.
"I didn't actually measure it, but I would guess it was probably between seven and eight-feet long," says Swatsky. "So, it was not a small snake by any stretch of the imagination."
He says he thinks that it might have escaped from someone's home which makes sense - the closest natural home a boa constrictor has to Minnesota is central Mexico.
