Why does a new billboard feature Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison?

The Live Nation logo is displayed at a Live Nation corporate office on March 9, 2026 in Beverly Hills, California. Live Nation has reportedly reached a tentative settlement with the Department of Justice that would require Live Nation, the owner of Ticketmaster, to pay around $200 million in damages.

A new billboard featuring Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison can be seen in downtown St. Paul.

Just last month, Ellison and over 30 other Attorney's General across the country fought concert promoter Live Nation and Ticketmaster to break up their monopoly - and won.

A federal grand jury found the companies guilty of multiple antitrust violations.

"I don't think a lot of people knew that, 'hey, you know, there was this lawsuit,' was ongoing and the state AGs were the ones who stepped into the ring and won this fight," explains Nidhi Hegde with the American Economic Liberties Project. "So we wanted to make sure that that message got out that your state AG is fighting for you, for everyday people, and that's why we did billboards."

The billboard reads "Ticketmaster Lost. Minnesota Won. Thank you Attorney General Ellison."

"He has made it very clear and that he's on the side of fans and artists, and when Trump DOJ settled, he was very explicit, saying that the settlement that they had gone for was weak and it actually did very little to change the status quo," Hegde adds. "And publicly declared that he was going to press forward with the state's case."

This lawsuit followed a settlement by the Trump DOJ in March in which many considered just a slap on the wrist.
