A Blaine police officer is out of the hospital and recovering after being thrown from a vehicle during a chaotic DWI arrest on Monday.
The Blaine Police Department says officers responded to a crash around 2:30 p.m. near Jefferson Street and Northtown Drive and were told the vehicle had been driving erratically before the crash.
Officers noticed signs of impairment on the driver, who then defied orders, re-entered his vehicle, and reversed. That led to an officer being dragged, who was partially inside the car. The vehicle accelerated, throwing the officer from the vehicle, before crashing into a retaining wall and flipping over.
The injured officer was treated at a local hospital and released.
The driver was booked into the Anoka County Jail on multiple felony charges, including second-degree assault and criminal vehicular operation.
