A Blaine woman suffered non-life threatening injuries Wednesday night after a burglar shot her in the leg as he fled a home invasion.
Blaine police said that a man and a woman arrived home at 8 p.m. in the 8800 block of Jackson St. NE Wednesday and noticed a light on in a bedroom that they typically do not leave on. When they pulled into a garage, a man ran from the home's front door.
As male homeowner chased the suspect through the yard, the suspect turned and fired a single bullet at him. The bullet struck the male homeowner in the pant leg and then struck the female homeowner in the leg.
When the homeowners went inside, they found the place ransacked and their Christmas gifts were piled up in the living room near the door.
Police on Thursday said they had not arrested a suspect, who is described as a 6-foot-3 to 6-foot-4 Black male who was wearing all black during the incident.
The woman who was shot was taken to the hospital.
