Two charges against a truck driver who plowed into a group of protesters on the 35W bridge last summer will be dropped.
Hennepin County prosecutors reached an agreement called a "continuance without prosecution" with Bogdan Vechirko, 36, of Otsego. That means if Vechirko stays out of trouble for the next year, a felony charge of threats of violence, and a gross-misdemeanor charge criminal vehicular operation will be dropped.
Vechirko drove his fuel tanker southbound on a closed 35W and onto the bridge, where hundreds of people were gathered to protest the killing of George Floyd. Thankfully no one was seriously injured.
