An infant was grazed by a bullet Friday night while riding in a car in north Minneapolis, at least the fourth time a child has been hit by gunfire this year in Minnesota's largest city.
"It's sickening and it's upsetting," said Minneapolis city spokesman John Elder.
The child was taken to North Memorial and police say the injury is not considered life-threatening.
Shots were reported fired in the area of Colfax Avenue North and 34th around 6:43 p.m.
This is at least the fourth time a child in Minneapolis has been struck by gunfire this year.
"These sort of injuries seem far more egregious when it happens to children," said Elder. "No one can tell me that this nine-month-old deserved this."
Two of the others died from their injuries and the other remains hospitalized.
In all four cases, there are no arrests.
