Xfinity is opening its 17th store in Chanhassen, giving residents a new option for connectivity both in the store and out in the community. As part of the ribbon-cutting ceremony on September 26, Xfinity is presenting a $5,000 check to Chanhassen-based A Better Society.

“It speaks to the larger goal, that when we expand into a new community, we want to invest in this community,” said Patrick Stumpf, manager, external communications, Comcast Midwest.

A Better Society is a nonprofit focused on discovering the needs of the community and collaborating to find solutions to issues like food insecurity, housing, mental/physical health, domestic violence support, and transportation needs.

“It’s about understanding how to get the right people in the room and then activating the broader community like businesses, government, for-profits, faith communities, and schools to facilitate conversations and solve problems,” said Heather Tran, who co-founded A Better Society with her husband, Khai Tran.

The $5,000 donation will help support the services at A Better Society, which include Project Lin-kij, a collaborative network that shares and connects all resources in Carver County to refer people for support.

Additionally, in August, A Better Society opened a family resource center, a physical location at Chaska Moravian Church. “It’s a location where families can come in and figure out their next step,” Tran explained.

Along with presenting a check to A Better Society, representatives from Comcast will be on hand at the Chanhassen store opening on Sept. 26 to outline the new location’s offerings to the community, which include internet, video, mobile, voice, and home security. The new store is designed to make it easier for customers to touch and engage with staff on the latest products and services.

In July, Comcast opened an Xfinity store in Richfield. The two new Xfinity locations represent Comcast’s ongoing investment in Minnesota, which, over the past three years, has included more than $534 million in technology and infrastructure across the state, including upgrades to its network and new construction.

“We are doubling down on our commitment to bring Xfinity closer to the communities we serve,” said Rachel Johnson, vice president, Sales and Marketing, Comcast Midwest. “Opening this state-of-the-art store is part of our broader strategy to enhance and personalize the customer experience.”

The new Chanhassen Xfinity store is located at 464 Lake Drive and is open Monday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., and Sunday, 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. To learn more about A Better Society, its work in Carver County, and how to donate, go here.
