One person is dead after they were shot by Crookston police early Thursday morning.
The shooting happened just before 1 a.m. in the on East Seventh Street after police were called there on a report of a man swinging a hatchet. Officers reportedly used less-lethal weapons before opening fire after the man continued to advance at them.
That man later died at the hospital.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said Thursday that it is handling the investigation.
