A crossbow-wielding suspect is now at large after a standoff with Hennepin County Deputies.

Authorities are searching for 27-year old Randy Mathews who escaped capture Wednesday after allegedly pointing a crossbow at Hennepin County Sheriff's deputies in Hanover, west of the Twin Cities.

It happened during a tow truck dispute on the 11000 block of Crow Hanssen Park Road.

Despite a quick deployment of law enforcement including an Emergency Services Unit, and Minnesota State Patrol air support, only the crossbow was recovered.

The Sheriff's Office is now intensifying their efforts to locate Mathews.

Mathews is described as a 6'7" Black male, weighing 222 pounds, and the office is asking the public to contact law enforcement immediately with any information.
