Downtown Minneapolis is trying the place to be every Thursday this summer with a new event that kicked off this week.

If you work or live in downtown Minneapolis, or just want to make the trip in, you might want to consider taking your lunch break along Nicollet Mall for what's called Downtown Thursdays, where you can enjoy free games, a farmers' market or even a roller disco.

Minneapolis Downtown Council's Leah Wong says the first ever FieldDday that took place on Thursday is just the beginning.

“Today is our kickoff to summer, and we’ll be doing activities all summer long on Downtown Thursdays,” says Wong.

You can find all of the planned events here.

The event runs each Thursday 11:30 am - 1:30 pm now until August 31. There are food and beverage specials from downtown vendors, spaces where you are able to set up and work remotely, plus special retail deals and even free parking at the Plaza Parking Ramp (Thursday only).

Downtown Council is also doing a Fall Fest on Thursday’s through September.
