School will continue as planned Monday for Eden Prairie schools, including the high school, where a shooting left two teens injured during a homecoming football game Friday night.

The school's homecoming dance was also canceled after the shooting.

Police have determined that it was related to Somali gang activity, with investigators searching for a getaway vehicle.

"I recognize how frightening an incident like this can be, particularly at an event with so many students," Eden Prairie Mayor Ron Case explained.

Police chief Matt Sackett says they had already taken additional security steps to try to prevent the incident.

"Officers were already on scene for the event and responded to what initially came in as a disturbance, and from there reports were shots fired," Sackett said.

The 18-year-old and 17-year-old boys who were shot are recovering, with the 18-year-old released from the hospital on Saturday. The 17-year-old remains in the hospital. Neither teen was an Eden Prairie student.

Sackett says a fight broke out before shots were fired.

"I don't have a confirmation on the make and model. Obviously a vehicle was involved in a getaway," Sackett adds.

Case says the suburban town southwest of Minneapolis isn't used to this kind of violence.

"An incident like this is shocking to a community like Eden Prairie," said Mayor Ron Case. "It's shocking to our region."

In an update Sunday, Eden Prairie Police noted they're following multiple leads, but did not share suspect information or any additional information.
