Security is heightened at Eastcliff mansion in Saint Paul, where Governor Walz has returned following his first weeks of being the running mate for Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris.
There had been security provided by the Minnesota State Patrol at the stately building before August 6th, which was the day Harris called and offered the post to Walz.
He was in the home when the call came and he accepted.
Secret Service officers arrived by SUV that morning and are back, along with Homeland Security staff.
Part of Dayton Avenue that borders Eastcliff's entrance is now closed to traffic.
Eastcliff is usually the home of the University of Minnesota president, but Walz and his family are staying there while the governor's mansion on Summit Avenue is undergoing renovations.
