The family of Ricky Cobb II, a man who was shot and killed during a traffic stop last July, says it plans to file a lawsuit against the Minnesota State Trooper who fired the fatal shots.
Cobb was killed by trooper Ryan Londregan, who’s been charged by county prosecutors with second-degree unintentional murder, first-degree assault, and second-degree manslaughter.
Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty has been criticized for how she’s handled the case, particularly the charges against Londregan.
The Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association has asked Governor Tim Walz to let the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office take the case.
Cobb’s family is expected to announce the lawsuit on Wednesday morning.
