Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka (R - Nisswa) says while his current focus in on passing a budget, he does admit that he has thoughts about higher office.
Gazelka was asked about a possible run for governor today by WCCO's Chad Hartman.
"Well I'm at least considering it," Gazelka said. "I did four years ago and felt like I would best serve the state as the leader of the Senate. I know that this budget cycle is really important for Minnesota. So I told people I'm make some sort of decision this summer."
Gazelka has been mentioned as a possible challenger to Governor Tim Walz, who has yet to declare he is running for reelection. MyPillow founder Mike Lindell has expressed interest in running for governor, as has former NFL player Matt Birk.
The gubernatorial election will be November 8, 2022.
