A teen is now charged in the fatal bludgeoning of her mother in their Maplewood apartment.
Maplewood investigators say 43-year-old Georgina Lee Monk was found dead following a welfare check in the 1800 block of Beebe Road North, and that Monk's injuries were consistent with significant blunt force trauma.
The Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office later ruled the dead a homicide.
Monk's 17-year-old daughter was taken into custody and is being held at the Ramsey County Juvenile Detention Center.
Investigators recovered surveillance footage of the suspect carrying a hammer. Investigators said the woman had sustained blunt-force trauma to her head.
WCCO-TV reports that neighbors told police that the two had been arguing the day before, apparently about the mother taking the girl’s phone away.
Prosecutors are now petitioning the court to certify the teenager to stand trial as an adult for the grisly murder charge.
