Minneapolis Animal Care & Control is working with Second Hand Hounds this holiday season, providing new homes for our furry friends.

The program is simple, as Madison Weissenborn, the volunteer and community engagement coordinator for Minneapolis Animal Care & Control, shared that those looking to foster over the holidays can come in and pick up a dog for the long weekend.

“We’re going to basically make everything in our shelter available to foster, just to get them out for that long weekend,” Weissenborn said. “Pick up will be the Friday before Christmas, and drop off will be the Tuesday after Christmas. So, if people are looking to dip their toes into fostering or are just interested in fostering, this is a really good way to scratch that itch.

Weissenborn did note that priority will be given to overlooked animals.

The foster efforts are part of the Pawsitive Impact Foster Program, which began in 2022. Since May of that year, nearly 750 animals have been fostered.
