If you've got talent Minnesota??? You're wanted. Can you sing, dance, juggle, or possess any other special talent? If so, the State Fair wants you!
Katelyn White has been there, done that. The Lake Elmo native has competed in the State Fair talent contest the past two years - year two was better than year one when she didn't place.
"Last year I got second in the semi-final round," White explains. "Little sad I didn't get to go to the Grandstand the next day, but I'll try again this year."
Hopefully, the third time is the charm for the young singer-songwriter who already has three songs on Spotify.
"I've got my song picked out," she says. "It's an original called 'I'm Just Saying.' It's kind of directed towards like, any negative people in your life."
Her expectations this year?
"I don't really go into it assuming I'll win or anything, but I hope to have a lot of fun," White says.
A good attitude plus talent could be the winning combo might be just the thing. But it's that talent too. White already has 12 originals and one first place finish to her credit.
"I just recently played that same song I did the first year at the state fair at the FFA state competition, and I made some changes to that and I ended up winning that," explained White. "Oh, I have won a talent competition! The FFA one. I won that this year actually with my original 'Traveling man.'"
The deadline to register for auditions is 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 23. The actual auditions run Monday, July 21, through Sunday, July 27 at the Bandshell on the fairgrounds.
