Governor Tim Walz appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live Wednesday night marking his first appearance since October 2024 when we was running to be Vice President of the United States.

Kimmel asked Walz about Operation Metro Surge and the federal agents who shot and killed Alex Pretti and Renee Good in Minneapolis earlier this year.

"Where do we stand on the investigation," asked Kimmel?

"Well, they whisked 'em out of Minnesota," Walz said. "I assume they're working somewhere else, and there's countless other examples. They lied about the gentleman who was shot in the leg and thank God for video. I used my executive authority to launch here, a few weeks ago, a truth commission where we're gathering all of this. We're going bring them back and hold them accountable."

Walz says the Trump Administration wanted to roll out the surge without any real warning to Minnesota.

"I think they wanted to get a response from people that created violence so that they could use the Insurrection Act," claims the governor. "I mean this, this guy's an authoritarian and that was his goal."

"And boy, so much credit to the people of your state for the way that," Kimmel added. "It really was. They couldn't have handled it better than they did."

Walz says there continues to be no cooperation from the federal government during the investigation.

Kimmel also asked Walz about his plans for what comes after his term for governor ends.

"You, teach school? You will teach again," asked Kimmel?

"I'm going to go teach again," Walz said, echoing the same sentiment from an interview in March on the WCCO Morning News.

"What grade are you thinking about teaching," Kimmel followed-up with?

"I don't know. I was a 6th grade teacher for a while," Walz said. "I've been dealing with the Trump administration, so it's a flat thing in here, so."

Also this week, Walz launched a federal PAC called "Small Town PAC" that he says will help train people in rural areas to lead and run for office.
