Governor Tim Walz is unveiling details about his plans to improve the state's infrastructure.

The budget of nearly a billion dollars includes investments in transportation, housing and water systems.

Public safety projects are also set to receive $142 million with plans to create a new headquarters for the Minnesota State Patrol.

Colonel Matt Langer says its about more than than a new building.

"We currently in our metropolitan area work out of six different offices, spaces that is about as fragmented and just join it as you can get and perhaps 30 or 40 years ago that worked just fine," explains Langer. "But given the pressures that we have today and what Minnesota needs out of the State Patrol as we look toward the future, we see tremendous value in bringing those six fragmented segmented sections together."

Minnesota Republicans are questioning why Governor Tim Walz's bonding plan doesn't include more money for local communities.

Kari Housley (R- Stillwater) sits on the Senate Capital committee and tells WCCO Radio's Vineeta Sawkar that it's disappointing to see so much money going towards state agencies.

"We gave a bunch of money last year, $2.6 billion, and a lot of that was for preservation for those state agencies," says Housley. "So, why wasn't there more for those state agencies? Only four percent?"

Housley says Republicans are focused on crumbling infrastructure such as roads, bridges, and water quality.

Walz says he believes that all of the rolled out investments have the well being and future of Minnesota at heart.
