Holidazzle is returning to Minneapolis in full force this year after the COVID-19 pandemic that threw a wrench in the winter festival for the last two years.
In 2020, Holidazzle was entirely virtual, and last year it lasted just one weekend. But 2022 marks the full return, with the annual festival at Loring Park returning every weekend for an entire month.
Beginning November 25 and running through to December 18, Holidazzle will run every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Mark Remme, the communications director for the Minneapolis downtown council, spoke with News Talk 830 WCCO about the return of the winter event.
“We’re super excited to welcome everyone back to Holidazzle for a great gathering and a lot of festivities over the course of the holiday season,” Remme said.
Remme says this year it will look similar to the Holidazzle of old, with a chance to meet Santa, the 17-foot Yeti art installation, amusement rides for the kids, and more than 30 food and shopping vendors setting up in Loring Park.
While the event is a great way to celebrate the holidays and support local businesses, Remme shared that the city has continued looking to improve the experience.
“We have really continued to build a new Holidazzle experience over the past eight or nine years,” Remme said.
New this year is a rolling skating event that will be held Friday and Saturday, and dog rescues on-site on Saturdays and Sundays.
“We’ve really enjoyed having roller skating opportunities downtown throughout the course of the year, and this is a great way to enjoy roller skating in that holiday setting,” Remme said.
