The cold weather that's coming in is a perfect chance for organizers to get a jump start on one of the region's biggest winter attractions.

In two weeks, tickets go on sale for the peak season of the Ice Castles at Long Lake Regional Park in New Brighton.

“When your primary building block is icicles, you love the cold weather, so this season we are hoping to turn on water and start growing ice by the end of this week,” says marketing director Melissa Smuzynski.

She said the expansive frozen world will be ready with new features this year, including an all-new ice bar.

“We will be offering a variety of both cold and warm beverages,” says Smuzynski.

They’re all set to warm up those long, cold winter nights.

“People want to get out. They want to bundle up and experience it,” adds Smuzynski. “Winter can be a very dreary time of year, but events like ice castles add a little bit of enchantment.”

The New Brighton Ice Castles feature ice slides, caverns and arches, and crawl tunnels. It started as something fun to do in the front yard of founder Brent Christensen’s home, and now has grown since significantly since 2011.

Tickets will be available starting November 28 and they can be purchased here.
