Dozens of residents confronted ICE agents near Lake Street and Pillsbury Avenue, not far from a Somali Mall, blowing whistles, as a way to warn people that a raid was taking place.

This the latest in the Department of Homeland Security's Operation Metro Surge.

One local Somali man reacted to the scene but didn't want to give his name.

"it's hitting so close, " he says, " near where we live and eat and all that. I had to call my 72 year old mother who was asking how I was doing."

Taneka Dortch lives on the street where it happened.

"They got three from the car and then they took the Somali citizen man, and then I think they might have took one more, but I wasn't sure I had to go inside and get more water."

She says there were dozens of people, yelling and video taping the incident.

"There was a huge crowd of us and they were shooting at us, they sprayed us."

There hasn't been official word on how many people were taken into custody.

To date, the Department of Homeland Security says agents have arrested more than 400 people since it's Minnesota-focused enforcement campaign began earlier this month.
