Kim Potter, the former Brooklyn Center police officer convicted in the death of a Black motorist, was released from prison at 4:00 a.m. Monday, according to officials with the state department of corrections.
She served about 16 months of her two-year sentence.
It was two years ago when she shot Daunte Wright during a traffic stop after mistaking her handgun for a Taser.
Officials didn't reveal the exact timing of her release from the Shakopee state correctional facility because of security reasons.
Potter will remain on supervised release until the end of this year.
She's expected to live in Wisconsin
