Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar met with Canadian members of parliament in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday to help highlight the strength of the union between the two nations.
Senator Klobuchar says making travel across the Minnesota and Canadian border easier is among her top priorities.
Klobuchar touched on the tight border throughout the last few years, which she said was “mostly due to COVID.”
The senator acknowledged that the difficulties many have had crossing from Minnesota into Canada and vice versa were tough on tourism, but most notably on those with friends and family living on either side.
Canadian member of Parliament John McKay echoed Klobuchar's sentiment that the relationship between Minnesota and Canada is essential, especially at the legislative level.
The Canada-U.S. Interparliamentary Group meets every two years, alternating between the United States and Canada.
