A Minnesota judge has found probable cause to believe that Republican candidate for governor Mike Lindell violated campaign laws by giving away pillows promoting his candidacy at a July Fourth parade.
Judge Nicholas Lienesch made the ruling on Thursday.
A complaint filed July 22 alleged Lindell "threw pillows to spectators" during the parade in the western Twin Cities suburb of Delano.
The packaging on the pillows said "Mike Lindell for Governor" which would be a violation of state law.
The pillows are valued at $34.95, according to the complaint.
Lindell has said his campaign took steps to ensure it was complying with campaign laws, and said the pillows he tossed into the parade crows could be purchased with a promo code for $9.95.
The case will move forward to a panel of three administrative judges and evidentiary hearing but a date has not been set.
The hearing is not expected to happen before Tuesday's primary, in which Lindell is among the candidates for the Republican nomination for Minnesota Governor.
Also running in the GOP primary are include businessman Kendall Qualls, the party's endorsed candidate, and Minnesota House Speaker Lisa Demuth.
Lindell recently stepped down as CEI of his company MyPillow.
