A long time Minneapolis company is closing its doors, one that you've surely come across when planning - or attending - a party.

"It was a great run," says Ned Litin of Litin's Party Value.

Litin opened in the late 1940s. Ned Litin says his father Don started as a wholesaler of paper products for companies. In 1977, they opened Litin's Party Value, which became the company's main source of income until the pandemic, when in-person gatherings came to a halt.

"Even though, after the pandemic, I had a good year followed by a marginal year, followed by a really bad year," Litin explained. "And this year is nothing special. My lease is up at the end of August."

As far as the store, he says party items will be significantly marked down as part of a total sell-off of the company's inventory.

Ned Litin took over running the company from his father Don in 1999, who Ned says always valued his customers.

"That philosphy had turned out to be successful, and I ended up having a good business," Litin says.

Litin says he's looking forward to what's next as he is a grandfather now, and will also take time to heal from a ski injury.

Litin's closing sales are ongoing both online and at their physical store on Plymouth Avenue just north of Downtown Minneapolis.
