Inoperable traffic lights at the intersection of Lexington Parkway and Como Avenue in St. Paul resulted in the death of an elderly man Wednesday morning.

The man was heading east on Como Avenue when he was struck by a Dodge Journey heading north on Lexington Parkway.

Power in the neighborhood was still out after Tuesday morning's storms, and that was affecting traffic and street lights too.

According to an interview with the Star Tribune, police spokesperson Sgt. Mike Ernster says impairment is not suspected. The man's name has not been released.

The other driver suffered minor injuries. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
