56-year old Steven Bailey remains behind bars after a Hennepin County judge set his bail at $1 million on Wednesday. His two daughters were in court as well as friends and family of the victims.
All became emotional at times following the tragic incident. Bailey is charged with criminal vehicular homicide as well as criminal vehicular operation after allegedly ramming his car into a crowded patio, killing two in injuring several others at Park Tavern in St. Louis Park.
Bailey reportedly had a 0.325% blood-alcohol level, which is four times the legal limit in Minnesota. He told the court that he believed his use of alcohol was not a problem despite having five DWI arrests.
Court records show that he drove into the parking lot of the establishment where he hit two cars before ramming into the outdoor seating area.
Park Tavern employee Kristina Folkerts, and an employee of Methodist Hospital Gabe Harvey are the two that were killed in the accident. Four more Methodist Hospital employees were among the nine injured with one released after receiving treatment for minor injuries. Three more are still hospitalized: Theo Larson who is listed in fair condition, along with Tegan D’Albani and Laura Knutsen who are both still in serious condition.
Bailey's next court appearance is tentatively scheduled for October 1.
